And we have a winner! A New American Idol is crowned….
Well, I have to say some of the performances tonight were utterly painful but I won’t name any names. I was surprised to see how many great stars were included in the duets and it was fun to see who former contestants were paired with.
And for those who didn’t want to see the spoiler in the first paragraph….
Our new American Idol winner is …
Kris Allen!
I was actually very surprised as I thought Adam Lambert would win – since he’s become such a media darling… but personally I was happy to see Kris Allen become the new American Idol winner. Please don’t send me hate messages — I know many of you are adoring fans of Adam… but I think Kris will fill the “main stream” audience (ie country, pop) and Adam will go on to do great things for the rocker and alternative music fans.
Was anyone else surprised?
(Note: I think the Danny Gokey fans probably voted for Kris – which put him over the top.)
I also have to add that I’m totally and completely psyched for the new “So You Think You Can Dance!” The talent there is utterly amazing and I LOVE THAT SHOW!!!!!

Here’s the way I see it….Adam was a star from day one He’s got the looks, the vocals and terrific stage presence, actually he was lightyears away from anyone in the competition, That being said, I don’t see him as the AMERICAN IDOL….He belongs on broadway just like Jennifer Hudson…..but I don’t think that Kris was the right choice either….Although he had some shining moments he just doesn’t have that STAR quality to make it all the way….In my oppinion Danny was the most well rounded choice…He wasn’t as good as Adam but to me far better than Kris…..Unfortunately when you have a million teenyboppers voing 500 times apeice thats what happens………The best of luck to all….

The best part of the finale was KISS proving, once again. that they are the greatest band this country has ever produced. They are pure American excess and Adam was great with them.

I agree the only reason Kris won was because of Gokeys fans, they dont like hard rock. Adam did a great job each week, I think America got it wrong, Adam should of been the American Idol!!!
