… and it’s down to 2 on American Idol!
Well, the votes are in and it’s down to the final 2 on American Idol…
If you love Danny Gokey… you were sad to see him go home tonight. I’m hopeful he’ll get straight to the recording studio and get his album going soon.
As for the final 2 — it’s down to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.
Although it seems that Adam has had more of the spotlight (he’s on the cover of People magazine this week….) I actually think that the fact that there was less than 1 million votes separating the top two contestants could put Kris as the next American Idol.
My theory is this…. There are many Danny haters and many Adam haters out there. There seems to be either passionate like or dislike for these two. But generally speaking Kris is either liked or okay. My guess is that all of the Danny fans will vote for Kris next week, pushing him to the top and it will be an incredible upset.
What do you think?

I agree with you on the fact that there are many Danny and Adam haters that are out there but then again this is a popularity contest not a singing contest! I think Adam is by far more versatile than Kris but a lot of the voters for Danny I believe will go for the safe pick in Kris. Then again, what do you expect when you have a zilion 8 to 12 year olds out there that will vote for Kris simply because they think he's cute. Again, I'm not bashing Kris by any means. I just think if you are judging it simply on artistic talent, stage presence & originality then I think Adam is the better of the two. What do you think???

I absolutely cannot stand Adam.
Here is a link to my blog. read my comments. I am a huge Danny fan and have been from day one. I cried when he was eliminated. I want Kris to win as an anti-Adam statement. We call Adam “Glambert”. I cannot see him even selling 100,000 albums. He is a Liza M. lookalike who could be a lead-in to Cher in Las Vegas. He is not worth listening to on the radio. YUCK!

Who does the Idol show think they are kidding when
Seacrest said there were over 88 million votes cast, first of all there is only two hours of voting and that comes out to 7200 seconds. So divide 88 million by 7200 it comes to 12,222 votes
per second. I texted one of the numbers and it took 6 seconds, texting is the fastest way to get a vote in, so if it takes one person 6 seconds to get thru there is no way you can get 12,222 votes
a second. Somebody is fudging the numbers, also
did anyone ever hear them tell who got what number of votes. The summation as I said before is
that the votes are bogus and the producers decide
the winner. The producers see all those young record buyers rooting for Chris so he made the finals, it’s a money game plain and simple.

After watching American Idol for three years now, I must say how disappointed I am in not only FOX Broadcasting Company, but also in an artist known as Katie Perry (formerly known as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson). I truly believe that it was very uncalled for and rude for said artist to come out and perform with an “Adam Lambert” cape on. This artist is extremely famous and has major influences upon a person’s thoughts. I feel that if she is endorsing Adam “I Kissed a Boy and I Liked It” Lambert, then she should never have been able to perform or at least made sure she was also endorsing the other candidates as well. Who knows, maybe if Beyonce, Jay Z, Hugh Hefner or any other famous person would have endorsed Danny the week before, the results of last night might have been different. There is no doubt that Adam will surely win now that all of America has seen who one particular artist is rooting for. Maybe this is just a way to make sure Adam does win and keeps FOX in the spotlight, after all, I have thought it was all rigged anyways. So to end my little rant here, I hope Adam does win and go on to have a prosperous career and hopefully one day he can go on tour with Katie Perry who put him where he is now.

Thanks for all your comments. I absolutely agree that it was poor form and very inappropriate for the producers to allow Katy Perry to champion Adam Lambert during her performance. It certainly seems to skew the American Idol contest – almost proclaiming a winner before America has a chance to vote. I can’t imagine how the other contestants must feel when they see something like that.

I’m thinking like you…I think Chris could actually get it, unless (as my husband said) Danny supporters are pissed off and won’t even watch next week! I would fit into that category.

Adam Lambert I believe is very talented and I think Chris is run-of-the-mill boyz singer. HOWEVER, let me say this. Almost every song that Adam has sung has the same (screaming???) sound where he builds up to a finale and then ” WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH”. It’s cool, but I don’t think I could listen to a dozen or so consecutive songs with that scream so I don’t think he’s going to become a “huge” start. My humble opinion only.

I have to admit that Adam far outshines many performers in AI. After all, with the background and experience he has – as well as his amazing talent, he is going to do incredible things. However, of all of the music genres he’s tried, I actually like him least doing hard rock. Cryin’? It was a ’safe’ song for him – but rather annoying compared to both Danny and Kris’s second selections, which were far more original (good comment on his trademark soprano scream for almost EVERY song). Evidently there were a few other people who felt the same way.
I admire Adam’s talent, but the stacking of the cards by the judge’s choice of song this week was irritating. They know Kris and Danny’s style – of all of the songs they could have picked, why either of those? U2- the Great Band- for Adam – well, of course.
Kris is a fast learner, a promising song producer/arranger who happens to also have a decent voice. I wondered when he did Ain’t No Sunshine whether or not he could be the dark horse – and, sure enough, he has made it. The way he sang and played Heartless was, as Randy pointed out, better than the original (take that Kanye!)
Comment on the Motown performances. Did anyone recognize that many of the performers did better than usual on that week. I attribute that to an incredible mentor, Smokey Robinson, who really gave heartfelt and personal feedback to each singer. Adam ‘got’ it that week – and so did Kris, Matt and Anoop.
The argument on whether all of Danny’s fans will vote for Kris – I doubt it. Kris mentioned that he is doing what he does now. It’s really too late to make changes – just sing your heart out and hope for the best.
Next week could be a lot more promising for entertainment than the David vs David thing last year. Looking forward to it!

Adam could have won without the Katy Perry endorsement. His extreme talent puts him in a superior class of highly talented musicians.

The whole show is rigged. I was a production assistant for Fox from 2002 – 2007. THEY pick who will win. Its right off the bat too. Your votes do not count one bit. Adam is only on there still because he has the look of today. Little girls swarm over him and give Fox the ratings they want. Just an example… Who’s name was on Katy Perry’s cape last week? WINK WINK…I knew from week one of the top 13, that Adam would stay the trip. He gave them the ratings, and when it comes to ratings, YOU CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY!!! Those ratings are what sell ad space. I believe that Kris has way more talent in vocals and in instrumentals than Adam.

Adam all the way!!!

Here’s what I think:
After AI Kris will go on the be the more successful one in the music biz. I can see Kris singing cool songs that most peole like and Adam being more edgy and playing into the ‘alternative’ side. Nothing wrong with either, just more peole in general would listen to music by Kris. I hope Kris takes a Jason Mraz or John Mayer type vibe. Smooth songs that have meaning and can be kind of ‘feel good’. I hope Kris wins,,,but think it’ll be Adam. Both are wonderful and I’m sure will have incredible futures!

adam should have won by a landslide.. he was better
than anyone at the first and last of the show
idol must be rigged I will not watch it next year
Adam already is a star, and everyone will see that
this year real soon…..
